Snow Crystals, Classified
Fourteen snow crystal types, each drawn where it grows on Nakaya's temperature and humidity diagram.
This chart puts fourteen snow crystal types where they grow, in °C and °F: plain plates on the mild side, needles and hollow columns a few degrees colder, and the broad six-armed stars around −15 °C.
Every crystal is drawn from its geometry, not copied from a photograph, after the morphology diagram Ukichiro Nakaya discovered in the 1930s. The full credit is printed along the foot of the chart.
