Crow and raven size guide

A raven and a jay are close relatives, and most pictures of them fill the same frame. They are not the same size. This chart puts ten corvids from Europe and North America on one scale, using published species-average weights.

Common Raven is about 13.0 times Canada Jay at the same measure. Weights are species averages and wing lengths are measured on the unflattened wing, both from AVONET (Tobias et al. 2022, CC BY 4.0). Each species page links to its Avibase record.
